Jonathan has been with the Boarding House since the very beginning, shaping its vision and ensuring a welcoming stay for every guest.
What do you think separates the Boarding House from other hotels in Cape May?
We may be small, but we don't see it that way. Our crew will go above and beyond to help create the best vacation for you and your family. We want to send you to our favorite restaurants and shops – send you to the local spots that may be less known. In essence, be mini-concierges. We want you to come in and chat with us… and if you don’t, we have that covered too. We send you room access codes through your phone and have a text message system with our guests in case they need us. Cape May is synonymous with B&Bs and their exceptional hospitality. We’ve taken that model as inspiration… just with our own touch.
Which amenity would you enjoy most if you were to stay at the Boarding House?
Complimentary bikes from Priority Bikes. I’ve had a lot of beach cruisers in my life and these are the best! They are solid, they don’t rust and are built to endure the coastal beach life. They get reserved each morning, so get on it quick before they are gone.
What is one thing someone MUST do while visiting Cape May?
Eat fresh seafood! Cape May scallops, Cape May salt oysters, fresh NJ flounder. Cape May is one of the largest commercial fishing ports on the East Coast, so take advantage of it.
Best spot in the Cape May area to grab a bite/drink after a long day at work?
Too many. For a quick bite and drinks, I would head to the rooftop at Harry’s (which is actually named after my grandfather). They have the best Orange Crushes. Also, The Schooner at The Lobster House has some of the best views and freshest seafood. For dinner, you have to go to Mayer’s… the fried scallops and burger are epic. If we’re going all-out, The Washington Inn is usually our go-to place. Don’t forget to stop by their bar for an after-dinner drink. It’s right behind the Boarding House.
In three words, describe the Boarding House!
Easy… The Boarding House!!!
